Public Finance Paralegal (Atlanta or Macon, GA)

Location: Atlanta, GA

What you would do:

  • Support attorneys in all phases of public finance and credit market transactions, including preparation, organization, and management of closing documents.
  • Maintain files from the court dockets in iManage
  • Draft, revise, and file documents related to bond issuances, loan transactions, and tax-exempt financings.
  • Schedule and maintain case calendars
  • Assist with due diligence, compile issuing authority materials, and maintain transaction checklists.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
  • Coordinate with municipalities, underwriters, financial advisors, corporate clients, and internal teams to ensure timely flow of information.
  • Prepare first drafts of resolutions, certificates, closing binders, and other transactional-related documents.
  • Conduct legal and factual research, including review of public records, property information, and corporate filings.
  • Manage filing and delivery of required disclosures and post-closing documentation.
  • Assist with state and local tax incentive project filings and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain organized electronic matter files and ensure all documentation adheres to firm standards.
  • Track deadlines, monitor project timelines, and provide proactive updates to attorneys.
  • Support ongoing client relationships by ensuring responsive, accurate, and professional communication.

What you bring:

  • Minimum 4 years of paralegal experience required
  • 2-4 year degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program is desire
  • A strong understanding of client industry
  • Ability to anticipate attorney needs and exercise sound judgment when necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including excel, word and power point
  • Experience capturing and recording billable time
  • High degree of detail and client focus
  • Experience in working with bond transactions, economic development projects, tax advantaged financing, and related corporate and governmental matters.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team
  • Drive and personal initiative
  • Knowledge of how entities (i.e., corporations, LLCs) are organized and entire process including Secretary of State’s Office procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge to utilize resources to search land records and titles, research tax assessor and tax collector websites and other areas related to business law to provide thorough and productive research
  • Demonstrates understanding of practice group economics (i.e., firm revenue and how paralegals impact revenue)
